2026 Infiniti QX80 Launch: The Luxury Flagship Gets Its Biggest-Ever Update

Infiniti's flagship SUV receives its most comprehensive generation change. New twin-turbo V6, revised interior and a significantly improved suspension system target the BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS.

The QX80 occupies an unusual market position in the UAE: it is Infiniti's most important model and the brand's primary justification for its existence alongside the BMW X7, Mercedes GLS and Lexus LX 600. The 2026 generation changes the most fundamental aspect of the outgoing model — the engine — and the result is transformative.

Quick-Take Overview

On sale: Available now at UAE Infiniti dealers Starting price: AED 389,000 (Autograph trim) Key rivals: BMW X7 xDrive40i, Mercedes GLS 450, Lexus LX 600 Powertrain: New 3.5L twin-turbo V6 replacing the previous 5.6L V8 Standout spec: Semi-Aniline leather standard, 23-inch alloys standard

Design & Exterior

The 2026 QX80's exterior design is the most departure from the QX80's traditional boxy silhouette. The new generation maintains large proportions but introduces curved rear haunches, a more integrated front fascia and sequential LED turn signals that sweep from front to rear.

Three exterior finishes new for 2026: Obsidian Black Graphite, Warm Titanium and Pure White.

Interior & Technology

The interior is the QX80's most compelling upgrade. Semi-Aniline leather — the softtest and most naturally-aged leather available in production vehicles — is standard across all UAE QX80 variants. Quilted Alcantara on the headliner and rear doors elevates the ambiance significantly.

The 14.3-inch infotainment screen runs Infiniti's new iSV software with Google built-in. A 10.1-inch rear entertainment screen for second-row passengers and a 9-inch control panel for third-row passengers are standard.

The new turbocharged V6 is more powerful (450 vs 400 hp) and more efficient (12.2 vs 14.8 L/100 km) than the V8 it replaces. The character changes from the V8's smooth surge to a more immediate, turbocharged power delivery — either characterisation is legitimate, but the numbers unambiguously favour the V6.

Recommendation: QX80 Autograph — the base trim is comprehensively equipped; the step-ups add cosmetics rather than substance.

Verdict

The 2026 QX80 is Infiniti's best product in a decade. The combination of a more powerful turbocharged V6, Semi-Aniline leather interior and genuinely improved suspension makes it more competitive against the BMW X7 and Mercedes GLS than any previous QX80.

Recommended: QX80 Autograph in Obsidian Black Graphite.
