2026 Range Rover Evoque Review: Style, Technology, UAE Road Reality

The Evoque is the most stylish small SUV available in the UAE. The 2026 update adds Pivi Pro and a revised 2.0T engine. We spend a week assessing whether beauty and substance can coexist.

Verdict

Stars: 4.0 / 5 The Evoque is unashamedly a fashion statement that happens to be a capable small SUV. The Pivi Pro infotainment is exceptional; the exterior design remains the most covetable in its class; and the terrain response system adds genuine capability beyond its compact dimensions. Rear seat space and a comparatively high price vs Korean rivals are genuine weaknesses.

Pros: - Design that remains the benchmark in the compact luxury SUV class - Pivi Pro is genuinely the best infotainment system at this size - Available terrain response system for dune use

Cons: - AED 229,000 is substantially more than comparable-performance Korean rivals - Rear legroom at 760 mm is tight for adults - Land Rover reliability reputation in UAE is mixed

Price range: AED 229,000 – 289,000 Best for: Style-conscious UAE singles and couples who want premium cachet in a compact format Not for: Families needing rear seat space, or buyers who prioritise reliability

Introduction

The Evoque is the car UAE valets most frequently mistake for something more expensive. Its proportions, details and finish look like a mid-size luxury SUV compressed to compact dimensions. I drove the Evoque P250 R-Dynamic SE for a week in Dubai, including a sand test at Hatta's approach trails.

Interior Quality

The Evoque's interior is the car's strongest argument. The 11.4-inch Pivi Pro system — with dual-screen configuration and haptic feedback — is faster and more intuitive than any infotainment in a car under AED 350,000. Meridian audio is standard on R-Dynamic SE; it is the best system available in this size class.

The Sensory Pack (AED 12,900) adds Air Ionisation with ultrasonic fragrance diffuser and mood lighting — genuinely useful in Dubai's dust-heavy environment. I tested the air ionisation system over a week in Dubai and found it meaningfully reduced the dusty sensation in the cabin after Hatta gravel roads.

Driving Experience

The P250's 2.0-litre is smooth and sufficiently powerful for UAE conditions. AWD engages automatically when front traction is lost — on Hatta's gravel approach, it activated twice and prevented tyre slip without drama.

The Terrain Response 2 system includes a dedicated Grass/Gravel/Snow mode that appropriately mapped throttle and ABS calibration for gravel surfaces. The Evoque is not a serious dune car — its 190 mm ground clearance and road-biased tyres limit its desert ambitions — but it handles light off-road conditions confidently.

Fuel consumption: 10.1 L/100 km UAE mixed — acceptable for 249 hp.

Our Verdict

The Evoque P250 R-Dynamic SE is the best compact luxury SUV for UAE buyers who prioritise design, technology and a degree of off-road capability. Its price premium over comparable Audis and BMWs is offset by the unique design and Pivi Pro's technology lead.

Recommended: Evoque P250 R-Dynamic SE in Firenze Red with Ebony interior.
