Hyundai Motor Company was founded in 1967 in Seoul, South Korea by Chung Ju-yung, a man who had never built a car before in his life. With British engineering help from George Turnbull, Hyundai produced its first wholly Korean-designed car — the Pony — by 1975. The brand's relentless quality improvement over the following decades is one of the greatest turnaround stories in automotive history. Today Hyundai is a global leader in both conventional and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles.
