Ferrari was born in 1939 in Maranello, Italy when Enzo Ferrari established Auto Avio Costruzioni after leaving Alfa Romeo. The first car to bear the Ferrari name was the 125 S of 1947, powered by a 1.5-litre V12 engine. Enzo built Ferrari on racing success, using prize money and sale of road cars to fund his true passion — Formula One dominance. The Prancing Horse emblem was gifted by the family of WWI flying ace Francesco Baracca.
