Fiat — Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino — was founded on 11 July 1899 by a group of Italian investors including Giovanni Agnelli in Turin. Within a decade, Fiat had become Italy's dominant industrial force, producing everything from cars to aircraft engines and tractors. The legendary Fiat 500 of 1957 became a symbol of Italy's post-war economic miracle, putting millions of families on wheels. Today Fiat is part of the Stellantis group and remains Italy's most enduring automotive icon.
