INEOS Automotive was founded in 2017 by British petrochemical billionaire Jim Ratcliffe with one specific mission: to build a worthy successor to the original Land Rover Defender. Starting from scratch with no automotive heritage, INEOS recruited engineers from the Land Rover programme and developed the Grenadier from the ground up. The Grenadier launched in 2022 as a no-compromise, go-anywhere off-roader built to a standard, not a price. INEOS represents one of the most serious new entrants to the automotive world in decades.
