JAC Motors — Jianghuai Automobile Group — was established in 1964 in Hefei, Anhui province initially as a truck manufacturer for the Chinese military and state enterprises. JAC expanded into passenger vehicles in the 1990s, later forming a significant joint venture with Volkswagen specifically for electric vehicles. The company has become one of China's more internationally active brands, exporting commercial vehicles and passenger cars to over 130 countries. JAC's EV partnership with VW positions it at the forefront of China's electrification drive.
