Jidu was founded in 2021 as a joint venture between Baidu — China's search and AI giant — and Geely, two of China's most technologically ambitious companies. The brand was created to build 'robo-cars': vehicles where artificial intelligence and autonomous driving are built from the ground up rather than bolted on. Jidu's first model, the ROBO-01, features a fully conversational AI system powered by Baidu's Apollo platform. Jidu represents perhaps the most radical reimagining of what a car company can be.
