Lotus Cars was founded in 1952 by engineering genius Colin Chapman, who approached automotive design with a radically simple philosophy: 'Simplify, then add lightness.' Chapman's obsession with weight reduction and aerodynamics produced some of the most technically innovative race and road cars ever built. Lotus won seven Formula One Constructors' Championships and introduced the monocoque chassis, ground-effect aerodynamics and the first carbon-fibre F1 car to grand prix racing. Today under Chinese ownership from Geely, Lotus is being reborn as an electric hypercar and GT brand.
