MG was founded in 1924 by Cecil Kimber in Oxford, England, initially as the sporting arm of Morris Garages — hence the name. The brand produced affordable British sports cars beloved by enthusiasts from the 1930s through the 1980s. After years of decline and multiple ownership changes, MG's revival came unexpectedly when Chinese giant SAIC Motor acquired the brand in 2007.
