Dubai Police confirms the addition of 100 Tesla Model 3 Performance vehicles to its patrol fleet — the largest EV police deployment in the GCC.
Dubai Police has confirmed it is deploying 100 Tesla Model 3 Performance vehicles for active patrol duties across the emirate, marking the most significant EV fleet expansion in GCC law enforcement history.
What We Know
The Tesla Model 3 Performance vehicles — specified in Midnight Silver Metallic with Dubai Police livery — will be deployed across Dubai's seven police districts from January 2026. The 460 hp dual-motor AWD variant offers a 0–100 km/h time of 3.1 seconds, making it among the fastest patrol cars in the Dubai fleet after the Bugatti Chiron (ceremonial display only) and the Lamborghini Aventador.
Each vehicle is configured with: - Standard Tesla Autopilot (for motorway cruise patrol) - Enhanced emergency lighting integration - Custom-mounted communications equipment - 560 km WLTP range per charge
Charging Infrastructure
Dubai Police has installed 12 Tesla Supercharger points at three police headquarters facilities. Vehicles operating on overnight shifts charge while parked. Daytime rapid top-ups use DEWA public chargers.
Operating Costs
Dubai Police has publicly stated that the Tesla fleet costs approximately AED 0.05 per km in electricity costs vs AED 0.23 per km for comparable petrol patrol vehicles. Annual fuel savings on the 100-car fleet: estimated AED 3.6 million.
What This Means for Buyers
The Dubai Police EV deployment carries significant signalling value for UAE consumers. When a government institution with demanding operational requirements — 24/7 deployment, reliability, charging logistics — commits to EVs at scale, it validates the technology's readiness for real-world UAE conditions.
The Model 3 Performance's ability to handle the demands of patrol duty — rapid acceleration, extended daily distances, extreme summer heat — is a practical endorsement that marketing material cannot replicate.
What Happens Next
Dubai Police has indicated it will evaluate the Tesla deployment over 12 months before committing to further EV procurement. Plans for additional EV models (potentially including SUVs for off-road patrol duties in desert areas) are under review.
